Emmerdale’s Eric Pollard (Chris Chittel) has struggled to talk about his diagnosis with even his nearest and dearest, so he’s left crushed when he finally tells his best pal and it doesn’t go the way he hopes.
It’s been difficult for the shop owner to come to terms with his diagnosis, having initially vowed to keep it a secret before it destroyed both his relationship with Brender and with his son.
Having got those back on track, Eric is tentatively trying to move forwards.
He has rejected the idea of support groups and even Manpreet’s (Rebecca Sarker) attempt at help have failed with bloody-minded Eric. So turning to friends is his last resort.

With the struggle getting worse, Eric finally agrees to go to support group, but when the time rolls around to go, he cannot bring himself to.

To Eric’s horror, he later finds himself with an unexpected tremor. It’s a stark reminder that his body is starting to decline, and all he can do is sit back and watch.
Manpreet can see he is struggling and suggests he turn to his friend Rodney (Patrick Mower) for support, offering up the news of his diagnosis.
