After three years of marriage and five years together, Emmerdale’s super solid pair Sam (James Hooton) and Lydia (Karen Blick) are set to be rocked by a cheating scandal when Lydia’s head is turned by a handsome face from her past.
This is devastating news. Are no soapland relationships sacred?!
Lydia was recently shocked to see a face from her children’s home past breeze through town – Craig. Seeing him transported her back to her childhood and resurfaced memories of her baby Toby.
Now Craig is back in town and it’s clear there are many unresolved things here. He lays a job offer on the table for Lydia, giving their connection an opportunity to grow. They meet at the Hide where he reaffirms the job offer. Hard-up Lydia is seriously tempted despite Sam’s reservations of her taking on more work.
Craig and Lydia slip easily into their old chat. They catch up on what’s been going on since the children’s home and even Samson is in awe of this successful man with his awesome car when he drops Lydia home. Craig is making an impression on everyone he meets.

When she walks through the door Samson gives Lydia a grilling, while poor Sam’s nose is put out of joint by this dashing and successful stranger who’s wooed his wife and son. Samson is thrilled to learn Craig’s company created his favourite phone game and asks Lydia to get him some work experience, Sam just can’t compete.

Craig later confirms Samson’s work experience while visiting the house, and even pops off to fix some dodgy guttering that Sam hasn’t yet got around to doing, Sam’s nose is now at a full-on wonk.
Feeling insecure in his own home, he orders Craig to leave. Embarrassed, Lydia rushes out and apologises for her husband, which is alarm bell number one.
It’s clear there are sparks between these two, and Sam’s gut is telling him something is going on. Is Emmerdale set for a fresh shock cheating scandal?
