Emma Raducanu mocks journalists over London Bus story after ‘losing Porsche’

Emma Raducanu has hit back at newspaper journalists who ran stories she’d been forced to ride the London Bus after ‘losing her Porsche’.

It was claimed by some media outlets at the start of October that Porsche – one of Raducanu’s main sponsors – had ‘taken away’ her 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet car.

Porsche is known to swiftly withdraw vehicles from celebrity ambassadors if they are not getting ‘value for money’ and one reporter claimed that Raducanu’s big-money endorsement deal could be ‘heading for the scrapyard’.

A spokesperson from the German company rubbished the rumours, though, and said: ‘Emma Raducanu is a global brand ambassador for Porsche and there have not been any changes within our successful partnership since it started in 2022.’

Raducanu, who has enjoyed a resurgent season after injury problems across 2022 and 2023, then posted a image of herself sat inside a Porsche on her Instagram account next to another photo with the words: ‘Like I vanished and reappeared.’

The 21-year-old, who incredibly won the US Open title in 2021 as a qualifier, has now decided to use social media once again after a new wave of Porsche stories.

Some newspaper outlets, including The Sun, ran a story about Raducanu riding a London Bus after having her Porsche ‘taken away’. According to Sportskeeda, it led to Raducanu being ‘trolled’ and to rumours it’s how she moves around now.

Raducanu has responded by posting a photo of herself on Instagram riding the bus with a laughing emoji and a newspaper emoji.

It has been a fine year for Raducanu on the WTA Tour, with the Briton climbing back up to world No.58 in the world rankings after her long period of inactivity.

Raducanu has reached quarter-finals in Stuttgart, Eastbourne, Washington and Seoul while she also produced her first two career wins over top-10 opponents.

She is currently ruled out with a minor foot injury but is plotting a return to play for Great Britain at the Billie Jean King Cup in November.

‘Hellooo, I’m sorry to say that I will not be able to play in Hong Kong,’ Raducanu posted on X last week. ‘Whilst my foot is making good progress, I need a little more time before I am match fit.

‘I hope to be able to come back and play this tournament in the future! In the meantime, I am doing what I can to be ready for BJKC.’
