Emma Raducanu Miami Open – Tennis superstar early exit
Emma Raducanu suffered an early exit as she was beaten in the second round of the Miami Open by Katerina Siniakova.
She lost 3-6 6-4 7-5.
Raducanu, 19, shocked the tennis world when she won the US Open without dropping a single set and as a qualifier. But this season, she has won just two of her seven matches so far.
Raducanu, seeded 11th, converted just five of 17 breakpoints and looked to be affected by nerves as she attempted to serve out the match.
She started strong and better than her opponent leading 4-1 with a tearful Siniakova taking a medical time-out.
After closing the first set, Raducanu raced to a break lead in the second before Siniakova forced a decider.
Raducanu once again took a break lead early in the third set and had a chance to go 3-0 up before Siniakova reeled off three games in a row.
But Raducanu still broke and served for the match at 5-4 but a double fault handed the initiative back to Siniakova.
Siniakova then took the lead and closed out the victory.
