The story is covered by both tabloids and broadsheets with almost all – with the expectation of the Daily Express – condemning the violence of the far-right criminals.

Many of the papers look at the role Elon Musk and social media are playing in the ongoing misinformation and violence spreading across the country.

Musk – who is continuously tweeting about the situation in the UK – has engaged in a war of words via social media.

Trending – Elon Musk fans the flames of division in the UK

There’s a sense of irritation in the headlines of some of the biggest media organisations in the country today, as powerful individuals such as Elon Musk have been accused of fanning the flames of division in the UK amid the ongoing riots spreading across British towns and cities.

Musk – the owner of X, formerly known as Twitter, has been widely criticised for claiming that a civil war was ‘inevitable’ in the UK, in response to the riots.

The prime minister as well as current and former cabinet ministers have slammed Musk’s tweeting regarding the disorder, suggesting he ‘knows nothing about Britain’.

Much of the disorder on the streets of England is believed to have been fuelled by misinformation being spread on social media.

In reality, the violence is condensed to a small but loud group of far-right thugs who do not represent the British public. There has also been counter-protesting – some of which has been violent but has largely been peaceful. All in all the number of people involved in the riots over the past 7 days has still been far less than what has been portrayed.
