Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu has finally addressed her split from boyfriend Davide Sanclimenti after weeks of speculation.
The Turkish actress, 28, and Italian businessman, also 28, were taken to the hearts of the nation last summer when they triumphed in Love Island and went on to win the £50,000 prize.
Alas, their fiery romance wasn’t to last and Davide announced at the end of June that they had parted ways, with later reports suggesting they were actually ‘on the rocks’ for months.
In his statement shared on social media, Davide said at the time: @ekinsuofficial & I are no longer together.
‘I am grateful for the memories and opportunities we shared together and wish her nothing but the best.
‘I would like for everybody to respect this decision during this difficult time I will continue to support Ekin in any way possible.’

While Ekin later shared her own statement to thank fans for their support, she did not mention Davide or the split explicitly – but now she has.
Keen to clear up rumours about what kind of relationship they have, the Dancing On Ice star took to her Instagram Story amid whispers they were back on.
‘There’s been a lot of speculation over the status of myself and Davide’s relationship in recent weeks,’ she began.
‘Usually these headlines are misleading.
‘I wasn’t taking a “swipe” at Davide like a recent article stated.
‘Despite the narratives, @davidesancli and I are on good terms, we both care about each other and I think everyone should respect that.’
‘Lots of love Ekin x’, she signed off.

The ‘swipe’ Ekin seemed to be referring to are comments she made last week when chatting about relationship mistakes.
Speaking to MailOnline at her BPerfect summer lunch event, she said: ‘If you’re in a relationship coming out of the villa, you need to realise you’re in a relationship.
‘You need to realise there is a lot of eyes on you and live it privately, have your own space and trust your partner, communicate with your partner, don’t rush to live with them straight away.’
She added that it’s key for Love Island couples to get to know each other away from the cameras, in contrast to how Ekin and Davide moved in together months after their win.

They also travelled for their own reality series and attended a bunch of red carpets together.
‘Stay true to yourself and be who you are and don’t let game change you,’ she added.
