Chelsea star Edouard Mendy is ‘nowhere near’ signing a new deal at the club after losing his spot to Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The Senegalese hasn’t featured for the club in 2023 and has only recently returned to first team training after a near three-month lay-off.
Mendy’s injury has seen Kepa take hold of the keeper’s jersey and the Spaniard has impressed during the 31-year-old’s absence.
Graham Potter has shown a preference for Kepa, who is happier in possession than Mendy.
That in itself has raised doubts about Mendy’s future at Stamford Bridge, and he will have just two years left on his deal at the end of the season.

Mendy has held talks with the club over a new deal but the Times say he’s ‘nowhere near’ signing an extension.
That’s in part down to the fact that Mendy is unsure about his future in west London but also because the Blues feel a new deal is not a current priority.
