EastEnders star Shona McGarty has opened up about receiving a strange gift from a fan which sparked major concern for her.
The actress, best known for playing Whitney Dean in the soap, was sent an electric drill to her home, which made her wonder if it was a death threat.
While the ordeal has come to an end now, Shona has been explaining about how she called her dad about the delivery – who eventually managed to find a good use for it!
‘I was sent a Black and Decker drill once. I phoned my dad and I said, “Dad I think this might be a death threat” and he went, “Oh is it any good?”’, she told the Daily Star.

‘He joked and said, “I’ll take this death threat and put it at the top of your skull and take a couple of pictures”. So, I mean, it was fine, I’m still good and here to tell the tale. It’s actually a pretty good drill, my dad’s taken it and done some DIY around the house!’.
The actress is often very open about her life away from EastEnders. Just recently, she spoke about her current relationship status after splitting from her co-star Max Bowden, who plays Ben Mitchell.
‘I’m speaking to someone at the moment but it’s very early days,’ she told The Mirror.

She also revealed that her relationship with Max is ‘better than ever’ and that they are still good friends.
‘It’s lovely to be here tonight because Max’s mum’s here and I haven’t seen her for ages, I adore her.
‘So it’s lovely to catch up with her. We’re actually better than ever. It’s a friendship, we’re such in a good place.
‘You take a risk, and you do something and it doesn’t work out, but that’s life, you’ve got to take that risk.’
Over in EastEnders, Whitney was recently involved in a heart-breaking storyline that saw her and Zack (James Farrar) say goodbye to their baby, Peach, who was diagnosed with Edwards’ Syndrome while in the womb.
