EastEnders star Gurlaine Kaur Garcha has promised fans an ‘exciting’ Christmas for the residents of Walford this year, and we can’t contain our excitement.

The BBC One soap, as long-time fans will know, always goes large during the festive season, with heartbreak, horror and tragedy often on the menu.

Bosses are keeping tight-lipped on what exactly will transpire this December in the Square, but Gurlaine Kaur Garcha, who plays Ash Panesar in the show, made it quite clear that it will be one to watch.

‘EastEnders Christmas is always explosive and lots of drama,’ she told Metro.co.uk at the Ethnicity Awards last night.

‘One thing I think is, even if you’re not a regular viewer, everyone tunes in because they just know it’s going to be fireworks.

‘I do know what’s happening. It is very good and it’s very exciting!

‘All I can say is: don’t miss it!’

Consider us very intrigued and very excited!

Ash is currently at the centre of a big storyline, following Nish Panesar’s (Navin Chowdhry) long-waited arrival in the Square after a two-decade stretch in prison.

Nish has made it his mission to get to know his family, and Ash has been receptive to his efforts, as has her brother Vinny (Shiv Jalota).

Kheerat (Jaz Singh Deol), however, remains on the fence, knowing there is more to his dad’s twisted manipulative ways than meets the eye.

‘Who doesn’t love a bit of family drama?’ Gurlaine said of the on-screen developments at the Inside Soap Awards earlier this month.

‘Even when you meet up with your mates and they’re like, “Guess what my brother did, or my dad or whatever,” and it’s that, it’s that real life drama that we bring to screen that the audience experience.’

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
