Nish and Suki have things to talk about (Pictures: BBC)

Suki (Balvinder Sopal) was absolutely floored when she returned to Albert Square in yesterday’s EastEnders to find her husband Nish (Navin Chowdhry) waiting for her with his arms wide open.

Expecting to return home from her trip to Mumbai and perhaps pick up where she left off with Eve (Heather Peace), Suki is stunned to see her husband has already made himself comfortable in the Square and thinks he’s already won the kids over.

Kheerat (Jaz Singh Deol) soon explains that the family now know the true reason that Nish was in prison – for killing someone who got too close to Suki.

Suki’s first reaction is to go to Eve, who is surprised to find her at her door. The two women share a tender reunion, interrupted by Stacey (Lacey Turner) walking in.

Later, Suki meets with Nish. An initially awkward encounter soon mellows as they begin to talk about their dead son Jags.

Jags was wrongly imprisoned after Suki let him take the fall for Vinny’s attack on Martin Fowler (James Bye).

Kheerat paid Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) to help keep Jags safe in prison via his dodgy criminal contacts, but Ben withdrew the protection when Kheerat got too cosy with Sharon (Letitia Dean) – and Jags was attacked and killed while behind bars.

As they reminisce about their son, Suki and Nish find some common ground – but is Suki taking a risk by letting her guard down?

Nish uses Jags’ death to his advantage.
