Could Ben lose Lexi for good? (Picture: BBC/Jack Barnes/Kieron McCarron)
Wednesday’s episode of EastEnders will bring fresh heartbreak for Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) in the wake of Lola Pearce’s (Danielle Harold) decision to have her husband Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) adopt daughter Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown).
Ben and his dad Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) consult with Ritchie Scott (Sian Webber) about Lola and Jay’s plan, where she explains they probably want to give Jay parental rights, not have a full adoption, but Ben thinks this is because Lola doesn’t think he’s up to the job.
Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) tries to reason with him that Lola is simply making sure that Lexi has all the support she needs, which would be good for all of them.
Later, Jay also tries to get through to Ben and promises they’ll drop the idea if he’s not on board. Although Ben eventually agrees, it’s clear he’s not coping and is in a terrible state.
It comes after Ben was blindsided that rapist Lewis Butler (Aidan O’Callaghan) has been arrested again. Ben was raped by Lewis in 2022, though the case was dropped due to lack of evidence.

Ben’s family, including his husband Callum Highway (Tony Clay), are becoming increasingly concerned about his wellbeing – could this blow tip him over the edge?
Elsewhere, after overhearing Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd), Davinder ‘Nugget’ Gulati (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury), and Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega) talking about the mess their parents have made, Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) steps in to support the Brannings.
Chelsea’s concern touches Denise Fox (Diane Parish), but she makes it clear she hasn’t forgiven her mum following the revelation of her affair with Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara), Chelsea’s ex-boyfriend.
Later, Chelsea tears into Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) for refusing family therapy, and he later joins her and the kids at McKlunky’s and tells delighted Amy that he’ll give the counselling a go.

Zack warns him that he shouldn’t get involved in the underworld that Ravi operates in, but cash-strapped Keanu lets the prospect of big money sway him.
