Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) is set to grow concerned as mum Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) begins to make changes in the Queen Vic in EastEnders, including getting rid of one of her favourite members of staff.
It appears that Elaine has something against Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), and decides that she wants him out of the pub.
When he turns up late for a shift, it goes nowhere towards helping to change her mind.
Soon, Alfie is getting the charm offensive underway, schmoozing Elaine by suggesting a cocktail night.
As part of a demonstration, he mixes some signature drinks for Kat Slater and Phil Mitchell (Jessie Wallace and Steve McFadden) so that they can toast to Peggy, though Elaine remains unimpressed.
Sensing her hesitation, Linda subtly sticks up for Alfie, but will it be enough to convince Elaine?
‘Linda’s gutted really because Alfie’s been so good to her,’ actress Kellie Bright explained, ‘and she’s just lost Sharon, so the last thing she wants is lose her other really good mate.
‘She’s terrified Alfie is not going to want to be her friend either.
‘Elaine is being very naughty because she’s really got her own reasons for wanting Alfie gone.’
Of course, Elaine’s ulterior motive is all to do with her new man, George Knight, who is set to arrive on the Square soon.
Viewers will soon see Elaine make a phone call to her mystery man, telling him how much she wants him to move in with her at The Vic.
With a new family around, this will leave little space for Alfie Moon.

It’s not just Linda who would be upset to see Alfie leave the Vic, as Kellie herself has enjoyed working alongside Shane Richie, who plays Alfie.
‘I think it’s really nice to have men and women friendships in a show like ours’, she said.
‘Those dynamics usually lead to something else, and actually, I think it is really strong and important to see a platonic relationship between a man and a woman.

‘Weirdly, they did have a bit of a kindred spirit thing going on because of his loss of Kat to Phil and her loss of Mick to Janine. They could really connect over that.
‘I think their friendship’s great, so I would like it to continue.’
