It was never going to end happily and, as is standard in a soap Christmas wedding, Sharon Watts’ (Letitia) big day has been utterly destroyed in EastEnders.

Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) has been sitting on the festering secret that he staged the kidnap of Albie, the child he thought is his son.

Against all odds, the relationship with Sharon got back on track, leading to a big wedding rush.

Even sacrificing his own mum Karen (Lorraine Stanley), who has so far taken the blame and incurred the wrath of Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), Keanu has hoped that it’s a crime that he can leave in his past.

Sadly for him, he couldn’t have been more wrong.

As the bride and groom began exchanging their vows, a thunderous Phil burst into the church and demanded that Sharon doesn’t marry Keanu – as he was the one who kidnapped Albie.

Dragging a reluctant Bernie (Clair Norris) along with him, Phil made Keanu’s sister back him up.

Keanu tried to deny everything, but Sharon could instantly tell that it was true, and they retreated into the back room to have it out.

Keanu again tried to lie his way out of things, but Sharon was done with him. She reminded him of what she went through with Denny, telling the man that was meant to love her that he put her through that same level of agony.

And, it was for nothing, she continued – Albie isn’t even his son.

As she took her revenge of telling a horrified Keanu that Albie is Phil’s son, Phil himself had just walked in, flanked by Kat (Jessie Wallace).

Phil couldn’t believe what he was hearing, and instantly became the defensive dad, wanting to be a part of Albie’s life.

As a row exploded, Phil also clocked that Kat hadn’t reacted as a fiery Slater should in circumstances like this.

He was stunned to find out that she already knew but as they later reflected on the situation, Kat insisted she wouldn’t stand in the way of Phil getting to know his son.

She also expressed her anxiety that he and Sharon would get close again, but he told her that no matter how he looked at Albie, he would only be reminded of his ex cheating with Keanu.

Later, as the six women involved in the Christmas murder sought refuge in the Vic, Phil stormed in and demanded of Sharon that he get access to Albie.
