The Mitchell family sit down over Christmas to watch another video message from Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) in EastEnders and this time, she’s got a huge surprise for Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) and Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton).
Lola died earlier this year after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. The powerful storyline was emotional and focused on how Lola’s illness impacted her close friends and family, as well as the Walford community.
In the aftermath, while the likes of Ben (Max Bowden) and Billy (Perry Fenwick) struggled with their grief, there was a strong focus on Jay, who even turned to drugs to try and numb his emotions.
During the plot, Jay started paying a sex worker called Nadine (Jazzy Phoenix) to sleep in the same bed as him.

It was at Nadine’s flat where Jay noticed a packet containing ketamine. He then asked Nadine if he could have it, desperately searching for a way to stop feeling so overwhelmed.

As he spent his days drinking and taking drugs, it was being in hospital after a car crash that ultimately made Jay realise he needed to change.

We’ve seen a number of these over the past few months. Before Lola’s death, she decided to record the video messages and instructed her family to watch them at a specific time including Christmas and Lexi’s (Isabella Brown) first day at high school.
In this new clip, as Lola no doubt chats about the festive period, she then completely shocks Jay and Honey, as she reveals they will run next year’s London Marathon!
