Dwayne Johnson is eyeing up one of the most coveted roles in Hollywood – playing James Bond.
The position of 007 is currently up for grabs with Daniel Craig bowing out of the franchise in 2021’s No Time To Die after 14 years playing the iconic character.
With roles in blockbusters such as Black Adam, Jumanji and Fast and Furious, Dwayne aka The Rock is no stranger to a little full-throttle action and is more than ready for the challenge of becoming Bond.
When asked what film series he’d most like to star in, the 50-year-old actor said in a recent interview: ‘You know my grandfather was in You Only Live Twice? He was a bad guy in You Only Live Twice. He had this amazing fight scene with Sean Connery.
‘Yeah, I could see that. Me and Harry [Potter]. I could be a sorcerer. Teach him the ropes, show him porn. I’m just bringing the porn joke back.’
Dwayne then added to LADbible: ‘That’s what it is, guys, alright. I love Star Wars. One of my all-time favourites. I would easily say James Bond. Or Star Wars. I see myself as James Bond. F**k the villain!

‘An American Bond? It can happen, right? It’s like Henry Cavill playing Superman.’
Perhaps this is why Dwayne was pictured with former Bond star Craig’s daughter Ella Loudon at a recent Black Adam premiere.
It’s not known how the two became acquainted but Dwayne was seen giving Ella a warm greeting at the London event and having a brief chat before posing for photos together.
Dwayne’s Bond dream revelation comes after David Tennant revealed he was previously in the running alongside Craig, who made his debut as the spy in 2006’s Casino Royale.
The former Doctor Who actor said: ‘I never believed I had, until I worked with a director recently who had worked with the Broccolis who said, “Yeah, you were on the list that time.”
‘I was like, “What time? What are you talking about?” He went, “Yeah, the last time.” I suppose it must have been Daniel Craig, before that I would have been a child.’
Speaking on the Acting For Others podcast, David added: ‘I think it was quite a long list and I don’t think I was ever very near the top of it. But apparently so.’
It may be a while before we learn who will officially become the next James Bond as producers recently said they have no current plans for a new instalment in the long-running franchise.
