An African national, 39, is facing allegations of possessing 1.5 (kg) of cocaine, a banned narcotic substance, at the Dubai Criminal Court.
According to Dubai Police records, the event occurred in April at Dubai International Airport (DXB), when the accused was apprehended by customs officials.
The accused pretended to be unaware of the situation and informed customs officials that he had received the consignment from one of his relatives the day before he was scheduled to fly to Dubai. The anti-narcotics cell of the Dubai Police arrested the accused and sent the seized substance to the forensic laboratory. The test revealed it to be cocaine.
