In a deeply uncomfortable meeting, Dua Lipa joined Billie Eilish at the Critics’ Choice Awards but the pair weren’t singing the same tune.
The 28-year-old behind the hit song Dance The Night was all dolled up with her red hair matching her red dress as she attended the ceremony in California on 14 January.
Also attending was fellow Barbie soundtrack icon Billie, 22, who was also rocking red hair but opted for a twist on the classic little black dress.
Despite lending their voices to the same movie, the singers were competing in the same Best Song category for their respective tracks; Dance The Night and What Was I Made For?
At one point in the night, a camera caught Dua and Billie appearing to be having a polite chat before the conversation ended very awkwardly.
As the Ocean Eyes singer turned away from her, the Albanian-British popstar went to lean in for a picture, resulting in an encounter that would haunt our nightmares.
For a second the pair were back to back with Dua smiling as Billie moved away from her to sit down, completely oblivious to her companion’s attempt to get a snap.
In a blur, the Levitating star laughed and quickly moved to grab food off her plate to diffuse the situation as Billie turned back around and sat down looking slightly bewildered.
Fans were watching through their fingers as the moment unfolded and took to X to vent their ‘second-hand embarrassment’.
‘I would literally hide in my house for the next 3 centuries ðŸ˜,’ wrote Tyler Duran in response to fan account physdua posting the video captioned: ‘LMAO poor Dua.’
Max Rex added: ‘This is like someone ignoring your high-five but only a thousand times worse.’
‘If I were her I would just fly to another country,’ joked David Jones in reference to Dua’s many (many) holidays.
‘Guys I get crazy second-hand embarrassment this is not funny,’ Chaela agreed.
Despite the ‘shady’ narrative some stan accounts were trying to push, most believed the snub was entirely accidental as Billie simply didn’t see Dua go for the snap.

Miscommunications and awkward moments aside, the pair did get pictures together later in the evening and were all smiles.
Neither Dua nor Billie took home the award for their Barbie songs, instead the male lead Ryan Gosling and male producers Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt were awarded for I’m Just Ken.
As presenters Bella Ramsey and Anthony Ramos announced the winner, the camera panned over to Ryan and the Drive actor seemed bewildered and horrified.
His reaction became an instant meme online, with long-term partner Eva Mendes sharing the gif and writing ‘I LOVE HIM!!!!’
