Dom Solanke fitness update ahead of Tottenham vs Bournemouth

Dominic Solanke is not yet back to full fitness but will train ahead of Tottenham’s clash with Bournemouth on Thursday.

Solanke was due to play against Fulham on Sunday but was a late withdrawal after falling ill in the hours before the match.

The England international has made progress since then but Postecoglou admitted that the striker was not yet fully fit for the trip to Bournemouth where Solanke signed from in a £65million deal this summer.

‘Everyone from the weekend got through ok,’ the Spurs boss said in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday. ‘Archie got a knock but he’s recovered well.

‘Dom is due to train today. He’s still not 100% but he’s much better. The other guys haven’t trained yet [with the group].’

With Richarlison back on the treatment table with his latest injury, it was Son Heung-min who led the line on the weekend as Spurs drew 1-1 to Fulham.

South Korean is expected to resume the role on Thursday should Solanke not be passed fit as his side look the get back to winning ways after two consecutive draws against Roma and Fulham.

First-choice centre-back pairing Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero remain sidelined, although Postecoglou suggested that the latter is closing in on a return to full training.

‘[Romero is] due to have his last couple of sessions with the rehab guys today or tomorrow,’ he said.

‘We’re hoping that he’s back in training by Friday and at the latest early next week.’

Elsewhere, Spurs will continue to be without Guglielmo Vicario and Rodrigo Bentancur who are unavailable due to injury and suspension respectively.

A win on Thursday could move the north London club back into the top six should Nottingham Forest fail to beat Manchester City the day prior.
