Director Sam Taylor-Johnson defends Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black from harsh criticism

Director Sam Taylor-Johnson has defended her new film Back to Black at its premiere from the criticism it has received.

The 57-year-old attended the event for her Amy Winehouse biopic alongside husband and hot contender for James Bond, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 33, in matching outfits, as well as her cast – including leading lady Marisa Abela.

Back to Black has been receiving mixed reviews and many fans have spoken harshly about clips released from it and whether or not it should have even been made.

However, when this was put to her at the premiere, she responded: ‘Go see it, is, I think, the smartest thing for me to say to that because I think it’s very hard to judge from a photograph or stories.’
