Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot says the club has been lifted by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s £1.3bn investment and says the players have felt a new sense of ‘motivation’.

The Red Devils announced on Christmas Eve that the Glazer family had agreed a £1.3bn bid with Ratcliffe and his INEOS partners for a 25% stake in the club.

The deal will see Ratcliffe take charge of football operations at Old Trafford, and Sir Dave Brailsford is conducting an audit of the club.

Brailsford will hire a sporting director, a new CEO and perhaps a new head of recruitment as part of an overhaul.

After 18 years of decay under the Glazers, United fans are hopeful that Ratcliffe’s investment will slowly mark the end of the Americans’ time at the club.

And the new-found optimism if even apparent with the players, as Dalot explained how Ratcliffe and Brailsford have brought ‘positivity’ to the club.

‘It brings some good, new energy with positive feelings,’ said Dalot.

‘We’re looking to the future with the good energy. You can feel at Carrington the motivation they have brought in.’

Ratcliffe’s deal will be verified by the Premier League in the next four to six weeks.

The club hope Ten Hag can turn the club’s results around and finish the season in a strong manner.

A decision will then be made over the Dutchman’s future in the summer.
