Dina Asher-Smith shrugs off injury to help Team GB reach 4x100m relay final in record time
The i says TOKYO — She is back. As we were, then. After a week of heartbreak and disappointment at the athletics track – Keely Hodgkinson’s silver medal aside – the face of Team GB, Dina Asher-Smith helped her 100m relay team to a national record and a place in Friday’s final.
That they qualified is one thing. But the team of Asha Philip, Imani Lansiquot, Asher-Smith and anchor Daryll Neita, won their heat in front of the USA and a Jamaican team featuring all the medallists from last Saturday’s 100m final.
Asher-Smith revealed she has been working all week to get in shape for the 4x100m relay, having earlier ruled out her participation.
