Delay in lifting coronavirus restrictions will reduce hospital admissions, say government advisers
The i says pushing back the ‘unlock’ by four weeks will reduce total hospital admissions by a quarter and halve peak hospital admissions as more people get jabbed, according to modelling by a government adviser.
The Scientific Pandemic Influenza Group on Modelling, Operational sub-group (SPI-M-O) is predicting a small wave of infections in the run-up to July 19th, the new proposed date for the ‘stage four’ unlock, with an extra hump just afterwards that should soon be brought down again with building momentum of vaccinations.
