Darius Campbell Danesh’s girlfriend has shared the details of his autopsy following his death back in August at the age of 41.
The ex-Pop Idol star was found in his US apartment in Rochester, Minnesota last summer.
An autopsy report later revealed that the singer died accidentally as the result of ‘toxic effects of chloroethane’ which had been inhaled, with suffocation also cited to have contributed to his death.
Local police added at the time that there were ‘no signs of intent or suspicious circumstances’.
Now, his girlfriend Lauren Cheek has said that Danesh Campbell’s autopsy showed his heart swelled to twice its normal size.
He also had a broken neck as a result of a car crash in 2010, which he never got checked out.

‘Darius was living with this heart condition that he didn’t know he had,’ the American businesswoman said.
She added to The Sun: ‘So many things could have taken him, but this one thing did, and he died in his sleep.
‘His mum told me they only found out after they did the autopsy. His heart was twice the size it was supposed to be, which was fitting, because that is genuinely how he was — he had so much love.’
Cheek added that the recurring pain caused by Danesh Campbell’s neck injury is what caused him to use chloroethane as a painkiller.

The 30-year-old said: ‘He didn’t want to take pills, not even aspirin.
‘That’s what killed him — the substance mixed with his heart and he couldn’t take it.’
