Dancing On Ice star Roxy Shahidi has revealed an agonising injury during training left her unable to breathe.

The Emmerdale actress, 40, is joining the likes of Ryan Thomas and Adele Roberts in the ITV competition, as Holly Willoughby returns to host alongside Stephen Mulhern.

They’ll be showing off their skating skills in front of judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse, but there have already been injuries along the way, forcing two contestants to drop out of the competition entirely.

Gogglebox star Stephen Lustig-Webb was forced to pull out after he sustained a break to his left ankle, and was later replaced by Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards.

Tippy Pickard was also forced to drop out after a training mishap, and now, Roxy has revealed an injury she’s suffered.

She said: ‘I dislocated my rib and I felt very sorry for myself. I didn’t even know that was a thing.

‘It was hard to breathe. If I coughed or sneezed it was agony. Absolute spasms.’

Thankfully, Roxy recovered over three weeks, and she now has ‘a lump where it’s kind of come out, which is scar tissue’.

She went on to explain that it can be a ‘quite common injury’ with lifts, but it didn’t occur during one for her.

Talking about the horrific after-effects, she continued to The Sun: ‘I sneezed and like, all of my body went into spasm, I’ve never felt pain like it.

‘And I literally, like, I couldn’t breathe for if it felt like 10 minutes, I could barely open the car door, it took me about 10 minutes to get out of the car.’

After being given exercises to work on strengthening, Roxy now still has anxiety that it could happen again, as the lifts and tricks get more challenging as the series continues.

This comes after Ryan was spotted nursing his shoulder with ice after being ‘wounded’ during training.

On Thursday, his pro partner Amani Fancy shared a clip of the former soap star with an ice pack on his shoulder.

She captioned the video: ‘The wounded @ryanthomas84.’

Thankfully for Ryan’s fans, Amani reassured everyone he will be in tip top shape for the first live show.

She added: ‘Don’t worry everyone, they’re just sore.’

Dancing On Ice returns Sunday, January 14 at 6.30pm on ITV1.
