More than 1,000 coronavirus deaths reported in the US in 24 hours
CNN says there are now 1, 872, 660 cases of the novel coronavirus in the US, according to Johns Hopkins University, after 21, 140 new infections were reported.
In the US so far, 108,211 people have died from the disease, with 1,036 new fatalities reported in the last 24 hours.

Thousands of homeless ‘back on the streets by July’
BBC News says thousands of homeless people who have been housed during the pandemic could be back on the streets by the end of June, a charity has warned.
Since the lockdown began, more than 14,500 people who were living on the streets or at risk of being homeless were given emergency accommodation.
But contracts between local councils and hostels are due to end as government funds run out.

Dominic Cummings: Doctor quits NHS over aides refusal to resign
The Guardian says a doctor is quitting the NHS in protest at Dominic Cummings’ refusal to resign despite allegedly breaking lockdown rules.
Dr Dominic Pimenta has decided to resign because he fears Cummings’ behaviour could help trigger a second wave of coronavirus and he is angered by the government’s handling of the pandemic.

Lebanon extends coronavirus regulations until July 5
Arab News says the Lebanese government has extended its ‘general mobilisation against coronavirus’ for another four weeks.
The extension, the sixth since it was first adopted on March 15, was based on recommendations from Lebanon’s Higher Defense Council.

Covid-19 pandemic ‘under control’ in France, government adviser says
France24 says the pandemic is now “under control” in France, the head of the government’s scientific advisory council said Friday, as the country cautiously lifts the lockdown imposed in March to contain the outbreak.
“The virus is still circulating, in certain regions in particular … but it is circulating slowly,” Jean-Francois Delfraissy told France Inter radio.
