TV cameras to be allowed in Crown Courts
BBC News reports TV cameras are to be allowed to film in Crown Courts in England and Wales for the first time.
New legislation being laid before Parliament will allow judges’ sentencing comments in serious high-profile criminal cases to be seen and heard by TV and online audiences.
However, trials will not be televised.
The judiciary, broadcasters and government have welcomed the move.

Reddit down for users in parts of US and Europe
RT News reports Reddit has stopped working for users in the eastern US and parts of Europe.
The website is failing to load for users in the affected areas and instead is showing a “504 Gateway Time-Out” error message. DownDetector.com registered thousands of problems with Reddit in a few hours.
Many users of the site took to Twitter to vent their frustrations.

Paedophile French priest says Church ‘could have helped him’
France24 says former Catholic priest Bernard Preynat said on Wednesday that he warned the Catholic Church about his sexual impulses but they failed to take appropriate measures. 
Preynat is on trial for sexually abusing dozens of boy scouts in the 1970s and 1980s.
“When I was 14 years old, during my Junior Seminary, I already knew (that I was attracted to little boys). People told me ‘you are sick’, but they got rid of me. They sent me to another seminary.” Preynat told the court.
“They should have helped me… They let me become a priest instead,” he explained.

North Korea propaganda video shows Kim Jong Un enjoying bizarre performance, inspecting everything
Fox News says just when you though North Korean propaganda couldn’t get any weirder, this happens.
Footage has surfaced showing female soldiers singing and dancing in front of Kim Jong Un, backed by a trio playing guitar, drums and an accordion.
The dictator is seen watching the performance as he sits at a desk on the other side of a long, narrow room. At first, he appears unsure of the performance but soon bursts out in applause.
The bizarre performance is part of a documentary about two and a half hours long that highlights Kim’s 2019, according to NK News.

Iran’s Rouhani threatens European troops amid nuclear pressure
Arab News says Iran’s president issued a warning on Wednesday that European forces in the Middle East could be at 
risk if their nations joined the US pressure campaign against his country and challenged Tehran over breaking the limits of a 2015 nuclear deal.
“Today, the American soldier is in danger, tomorrow the European soldier could be in danger,” President Hassan Rouhani said at a Cabinet meeting. He failed to elaborate.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Foriegn Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif acknowledged on Wednesday that Iranians “were lied to” for days following the accidental shooting down of a Ukraine passenger plane that killed 176 people.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s father and pro wrestler dies aged 75
Sky News reports tributes have been paid to former pro wrestler Rocky Johnson following his death aged 75. 
Rocky, the father of former pro wrestler turned Hollywood actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, was a trailblazer in the ring. He was the first African-American WWE tag team champion.
He was known as “Soul Man” and retired in 1991, with his son The Rock continuing his wrestling legacy.
