    14 children among up to 22 dead in Cameroon massacre: UN

    Arab News says a massacre in an anglophone region of Cameroon left up to 22 villagers dead including 14 children, the UN has said, with an opposition party blaming the killings on the army. cameroon massacre - children killed

    Armed men carried out the massacre on Friday in the village of Ntumbo in the Northwest region, James Nunan, a local official of humanitarian coordination agency OCHA, told AFP. 

    “Up to 22 civilians were killed, including a pregnant woman and several children,” Nunan said, adding 14 children – nine under the age of five – were among the dead.

    Eleven of the children were girls, said Nunan, head of OCHA’s office for the Northwest and Southwest regions, which are home to the West African country’s large English speaking minority.

    RT News says four astronauts chosen for India’s first manned space mission have started their training in Russia. The Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre has spared a few details of the secretive program with RT.india in training in russia for space mission

    India plans to send a crew into space in late 2021 or early 2022 aboard the vehicle called Gayanyaan (Sky Vehicle) as part of its efforts to join the elite group of space-going nations. 

    New Dehli has taken up the issue in all seriousness and sent four carefully selected candidates to the GCTC in Star City, to learn from its vast experience in manned spaceflights. 

    On average, Russian cosmonauts spend five years in training before they are considered ready to become a part of a space crew. The 12-month course the Indian astronauts have just embarked on is somewhat different – and not just because it is shorter.

    Death toll from China’s coronavirus jumps to 1,770

    France24 reports the death toll from China’s new coronavirus has jumped to 1,770 after 105 more people died, the coronavirus death toll jumpsNational Health Commission said Monday. 

    More than 70,500 have now been infected nationwide by the virus, which first emerged in December in central Hubei province. 

    Authorities have placed about 56 million people in Hubei and it’s capital Wuhan under quarantine. The quarantine is essentially sealing off the province from the rest of the country in an unprecedented effort to contain the virus.

    Iran’s Rouhani says US ‘maximum pressure’ campaign ‘has failed’, Trump doesn’t want war

    Fox News says Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said Sunday that the US’s “maximum pressure” policy aimed at rouhani says us pressure campaign has failedisolating Iran has “failed” and he claimed President Trump doesn’t want war with Iran because it would “ruin” his reelection chances.

    Last week, eight Senate Republicans sided with Democrats to support legislation restricting Trump’s ability to wage war with Iran.

    Ambulance called to Caroline Flack’s house day before her death

    Sky News says an ambulance was called to Caroline Flack’s home the day before she took her own life. Carolineflack dead at 40

    It is believed paramedics attended Flack’s flat in east London at 10:30 pm on Valentine’s Day. 

    A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called shortly after 22:30 on 14 February to a residential property on Northwold Road, N16. 

    “Crews attended and, following a clinical assessment, the person was not taken to hospital. Due to patient confidentiality, we cannot comment further.”
