    US imposes rules for pregnant women on ‘birth tourism’

    Arab News reports new visa rules aimed at restricting “birth tourism” -in which women travel to the US to give birth so their children can have US citizenship – have been introduced. US blocks birth tourism

    Applicants will be denied a tourist visa unless they can prove they must come to the US to give birth for medical reasons and they can afford to pay for it. 

    “Closing this glaring immigration loophole will combat these endemic abuses and ultimately protect the United States from the national security risks created by this practice” White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said in a statement. “It will also defend American taxpayers from having their hard-earned dollars siphoned away to finance the direct and downstream costs associated with birth tourism. The integrity of American citizenship must be protected.”

    Myanmar ordered to prevent genocide against Rohingya by top UN court

    CNN says the top UN court has ordered Myanmar to prevent acts of genocide against the country’s Rohingya minority and to stop destroying evidence. Top UN court rules myanmar stops genocide

    The landmark case at the Hague was bought to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the Neverlands by Gambia – which in November said Myanmar committed “genocidal acts” that “were intended to destroy the Rohingya as a group” through mass murder, rape and destruction of communities. 

    Gambia asked a 15-judge court to enact provisional measures to compel the Myanmar government and military to end all acts that amount to or contribute to genocide, and that Myanmar preserves evidence that could play a part in the case.

    Tests on 14 people in the UK for coronavirus

    BBC News says fourteen people in the UK have been tested for the coronavirus sweeping China, Public Health England has said. uk - 14 tested for coronavirus

    Five people have tested negative while nine others are waiting for results. In Scotland, where five people have been tested, an incident team has been set up with the health threat.

    There have been more than 800 confirmed cases of the virus, which has killed 25 people in China despite authorities attempting to stop the spreading of the deadly virus. 

    PHE’s announcement that 14 people in the UK had been tested came on Thursday night, but no details of where the cases were.

    ‘False sense of security’ Pakistan claims India’s S-400 deal fuels arms race … as it tests ballistic missile

    RT News says India’s decision to buy Russia’s S-400 missile defence system could start an arms race, Pakistan has claimed. And they urge India to ditch it for the sake of “stability” the same day it tested a new nuclear-capable missile. 'false sense of security' says Pakistan on India's recent S-400 purchase

    Citing “concerns regarding the induction of ballistic missile defence systems in the region,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Aisha Farooqui told reporters that the S-400 was a “destabilising system” which could “undermine deterrence and stability in South Asia and lead to an unnecessary arms race.”

    The Pakistani official also stressed that “the induction of [ballistic missile defence] should not lead to any false sense of security and any misadventure,” arguing that Pakistan “has the technological capability to ensure the continued efficiency of its deterrence.”
