Covid-19 infections in UK fall for seventh day in a row but No 10 fears cases will go back up in coming weeks
The i says Covid-19 infections in the UK have now been dropping for a full week, prompting fresh optimism among scientists even as the Government fears a fresh spike in cases on the horizon.
Another 23,511 infections were reported on Tuesday, the seventh consecutive daily decline and down nearly 50 per cent on the figure published a week earlier. The number of reported deaths was 131, the first time it has reached three figures since March, reflecting the impact of higher infection rates in recent weeks – although Tuesdays always tend to record more deaths than any other day.
