Cummings’ talks – ‘Lockdown delayed because Covid only killing the old’

Covid-19: Dominic Cummings highly-anticipated appearance in Commons today

The former prime minister aide Dominic Cummings is expected to tell MPs later that Boris Johnson purposely delayed the autumn lockdown by claiming “Covid is only killing 80-year-olds.”

The highly-anticipated appearance in front of MPs is set to reveal the details of the government’s response to the pandemic, and what went on behind the scenes.

ITV reported the alleged comments are expected to be attributed to the prime minister and come after other allegations the PM said he would rather “let the bodies pile high” than order another lockdown – the second wave took Britain’s death toll to over 150,000.

How to watch Dominic Cummings committee appearance:

The committee will start at 9.30am on Wednesday 26 May, and could run for up to four hours – meaning it could overlap with Prime Minister’s Questions, which as always begins at midday.

You will be able to watch a live stream on the Parliament TV website.

It is also likely to receive extensive coverage on BBC News and Sky News. You can watch BBC News online with BBC iPlayer, and Sky News through its YouTube channel here.
