The Winter/Brown family are relieved in upcoming Coronation Street episodes as they are finally given the reason for Joseph Brown (William Flanagan) continuously feeling unwell.
For a few months now, Joseph has been complaining of symptoms that would suggest he has a typical sickness bug. While Joseph had time at home initially, Chesney and Gemma now find themselves torn over how unwell he actually is, or whether he’s just trying to have another day off school.
This problem occurs at the start of next week, as Joseph complains of a temperature. Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) feels concerned, but Chesney’s adamant that he’s fine.
Paying a visit to Paul (Peter Ash), Gemma shares her worries but her brother points out she could jeapordise the situation with social services, so it’s best to keep quiet.

Later in the week, when Joseph gags on his milk, Chesney realises that the fridge is broken and all the food has gone off. He emerges from Number 5 with a poorly Joseph and assures Gemma that he just has an upset tummy.
Overhearing the conversation is Doctor Gaddas, who is curious.
Back at Number 5, when Gemma finds the business card for a family solicitor, she is furious and accuses Ches of plotting to take her kids off her.

When newly returned Linda (Jacqueline Leanord) reveals it was her idea to contact the solicitor as she doesn’t think she’s safe to be around her own children, Gemma storms out.
After receiving a call from the school, Chesney is forced to pick an unwell Joseph up.

As Ches and Linda fuss over the young lad, he goes to stand up only for his legs to give way.
Joseph then collapses on the sofa and is left barely conscious.
