Carla can’t believe what Stephen has told her (Picture: ITV)
Carla Barlow (Alison King) received quite the shock from Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) in recent Coronation Street scenes, when he revealed a harsh truth about her beloved childhood pet dog.
In recent episodes, Carla has grown suspicious that she may not have had a psychotic episode earlier this year at all, as she grows ever closer to discovering the truth about Stephen drugging her.
Stephen spiked her drinks with LSD to make people believe that she was having another mental health crisis, leaving him able to take control of Underworld.
Now, Carla is convinced that she may have been exposed to LSD, and has taken steps to find out the truth.
After confiding in Roy Cropper (David Neilson) about her suspicions, he put her in contact with a company who could test for LSD in a person’s system.

In tonight’s (September 1) episode, Roy called for an update on the situation, with Carla assuring him that the company were sending her a kit.
As she hung up the phone, Stephen called in, asking wanting to know why she hadn’t replied to his emails.
After she wittily replied that she had marked them as spam, Stephen asked what Roy wanted, and she informed him that he was seeking advice about dog Freddie.
Carla seemed offended when Stephen questioned why anyone would go to her for advice on dogs, revealing that she had her own pet dog once, who’s name was Rocky.

She explained that he had gone to live on a farm in the countryside, to which Stephen snorted.
‘That old chestnut,’ he replied, leaving Carla confused.
When Stephen explained that it was a euphemism often used by parents who don’t want to tell their kids that the family dog is dead, Carla was adamant that he was wrong.

She insisted that she had been told she could visit him whenever she wanted, but when she recalled how they had never got round to going, it was clear that she was wondering if Stephen may have been right.
While Carla will soon get the results of her LSD test, which will hopefully prove her right, she may never know what really happened to poor Rocky.
Let’s all just enjoy the idea of him frolicking through fields in the countryside. After all, Corrie has plenty of death to go round.
