Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) left Carla Barlow (Alison King) furious in recent Coronation Street scenes when he confessed a huge secret that may link him to the murder of Rufus.
When Carla found herself invited to Rufus’ memorial service, she took her Underworld colleagues along in the hopes of maintaining her business contact with Rufus’ company, which was now in the hands of his wife, Lou (Eleanor Howell).
Following the service, Carla reached out to Lou who was clearly still grieving, and the pair ended up heading to the Bistro together for a chat.
Carla opened up about how she came to run Underworld following the death of first husband Paul Connor and Lou continued to ask her for advice on being a woman in business.
However, their discussion was soon interrupted by the arrival of Peter, who was keen to check that Carla had remembered their dinner plans for that evening.
Of course, with Carla being in business mode, she had forgotten all about it. Though Peter was happy to postpone, Lou insisted that they enjoy their evening together, before revealing that she had a meeting with the police to get to the following day.
As she explained that Rufus’ watch was still missing, which made her suspect that perhaps he had been killed in a robbery, Peter grew shifty and excused himself to the bathroom.
When he returned as Lou was leaving, Carla wanted answers.
It was clear to Carla that he was acting strange, and his attempts to cover did nothing to convince her otherwise.

Instead, he revealed the shocking truth – that he had been the one to steal the watch when Rufus dropped it in the back of his taxi.
Carla was horrified, but grew even angrier when Peter confessed that he had pawned it to pay for her rehab earlier this year.
In a bid to resolve the situation, Carla suggested that he attempt to buy back the watch and come clean about his crime in the hopes that she wouldn’t report him.
