Joseph Brown (William Flanagan) was sent to hospital again in Wednesday’s (January 17) Coronation Street after collapsing at home.
For a few months, Joseph has been complaining of flu-like symptoms.
Deciding whether Joseph was actually poorly or just trying to get another day off school has made Chesney (Sam Aston) and Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) clash multiple times. For Gemma, she has regularly been concerned about Joseph, but the worry came after she accidentally poisoned him.
As a result, Chesney has been conflicted over whether to act on Gemma’s comments, or believe she might be slightly overreacting.
In tonight’s episode, Joseph continued to feel unwell. After witnessing his son gag on some milk, Chesney realised the fridge had broken and put Joseph’s poorly tummy down to consuming some gone-off milk.
Later, after resting on the sofa, Joseph got up to head to his bedroom but collapsed. A panicked Chesney and Linda (Jacqueline Leanord) then called an ambulance and made their way to hospital.

When Gemma eventually arrived, a nurse and Doctor Gaddas explained to Ches, Gemma and Linda that Joseph has Lyme Disease, which is usually contracted when a tick gets into someone’s skin and infects their system.
In Joseph’s case, the disease was picked up after going camping with his dad.

Fortunately, Joseph will make a full recovery, but weeks of arguing and worrying about the young lad has left Chesney and Gemma in a difficult place.
At the hospital, Gemma expressed her hurt towards Chesney believing she’s a ‘liar’ and ‘bonkers’, and wished Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) had been around to stick up for her.

All Chesney could do was beg for Gemma’s forgiveness, but he was left fearing for their future when Gemma said she isn’t sure if she can move past this.
But will this couple get back on track for the sake of their family?
