Maria’s got no idea (Picture: ITV)
Young Liam Connor (Charie Wrenshall) has been the target of some vicious bullying in Coronation Street, ever since nasty Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) appeared on the scene.
Mason is an extremely disturbed – and disturbing – individual who has exploited Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne)’s feeling of insecurity to help him bully the younger Liam.
The bullying has landed Liam in hospital previously after a terrified Liam experienced an asthma attack, and Mason has framed Liam for stealing a pair of trainers and taunted him about his late dad, Liam (Robert James-Collier), who was murdered before Liam Jr was born.
In upcoming episodes Liam’s fear of Mason and his gang becomes so bad that he’s scared to go to school. He sets off as usual, but as soon as Gary (Mikey North) and Maria (Samia Longchambon)’s backs are turned he heads straight back home.

Maria is shocked when she gets a call from the school and discovers that her son hasn’t been to school for a week.
The next day Liam tries to protest that he doesn’t feel well and should stay at home, but Maria insists that he goes to school and even sees him on to the bus to make sure he goes.

He leaves his phone behind, so she goes to the school to give it to him, which makes him hugely uncomfortable to be seen at the school with his mum.

Even worse, Mason is filming the encounter and tells Dylan that it’s proof that Liam is a grass and that he’s going to make him pay for telling Maria what’s been going on.
Cornering Liam he snatches his phone and refuses to hand it back, taunting him while the other kids laugh at Liam’s distress.
