We know that Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) will do whatever it takes to survive and she’s at the centre of a mystery in upcoming Coronation Street episodes when she suddenly seems to have plenty of cash to splash about.
Shona (Julia Goulding) is annoyed when Lauren seems to be spending more time on her phone than actually working when she’s in the cafe.
Lauren is also supposed to be working at a call centre in a second job, but Shona is surprised to see her in the precinct when she’s supposed to be at work. Lauren says she swapped shifts, but Shona is suspicious.
The following day Lauren presents Max (Paddy Bever) with a new watch, which she says is a thank you present because of everything he’s done for her. Max is touched, and worries that the watch was expensive and Lauren can’t afford it. She brushes this off, saying that she got a promotion at the call centre.
Sabrina (Luana Santos), Max’s girlfriend, isn’t impressed that Lauren is giving Max presents and doesn’t trust her motives at all. She warns her that she needs to stop playing games and getting involved in her and Max’s relationship.

In the cafe Max returns the watch to Lauren, saying it’s too much and he can’t accept it. Shona is watching this conversation, and she wonders where Lauren got the money for the watch.

When Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) tells Shona that there was £80 missing from the till when she cashed up, Shona puts two and two together and accuses Lauren of stealing from Roy (David Neilson)’s till – and suspends her from the job.
Lauren is horrified to have lost her job but she fronts it out, telling Shona that she doesn’t need the work anyway because she’s got a new boyfriend – and he’s rich.
