Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) gets further upsetting news in Coronation Street as the prospect of getting her beloved pub back starts to feel like a pipe dream.

After accepting she couldn’t balance the books, Jenny had to put the Rovers Return up for sale.

After a bit of back and forth with the Newton family from Newton and Ridley, the boozer was bought by Waterfords.

Jenny and her team were then given more bad news when the Waterfords boss arrived and said their contracts had been terminated.

With most staff now looking for jobs elsewhere, Jenny has spent a lot of time in Rita’s (Barbara Knox) flat wondering what her future looks like as someone other than the landlady of the local boozer.

This week, Brian (Peter Gunn) breaks the news to Jenny that Waterfords have put the Rovers up for sale and a property developer is hoping to buy it and turn it into flats.

When Ronnie (Vinta Morgan) reveals that he’s had a call from a developer friend and he’d like them to oversee the conversion of the Rovers into flats, Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) delighted while Debbie (Sue Devaney) warns him that he’ll have the whole street against him.

Later in the week, Paul (Peter Ash) thanks Ed for his work in the flat and promises to pay him as soon as his disability grant comes in.

Ed, who is broke and struggling with a gambling addiction, masks his panic as he assures him there’s no rush.
