George opened up to Liam (Picture: ITV)
Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall) has been having a tough time recently in Coronation Street thanks to nasty bully Mason (Luca Toolan), but his struggle has inspired George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) to open up about a tragic secret from his past.
Liam was about to get on the bus to school when he spotted Mason and the other bullies sat at the back, and decided against it.
As he got off, he bumped into George, and made up an excuse about forgetting his money and getting the next bus. Though George offered to lend him the bus fare, Liam was adamant that he wasn’t getting on.
Later, when George found Liam sitting in the garden, Liam made up an excuse about having a dentist appointment, though it was clear that George could tell what was really going on.

It was then that he chose to open up about his own experience at school, revealing that he too had been bullied.
He explained that he had seen his bully many years later, and was still struck with the same fear he had experienced everyday at school.
When Liam asked what he did to stop the bullying, George revealed that he ‘had it out with him’, but offered Liam some advice.

He revealed that he wished he had talked to someone about what he was going through at the time, though Liam pointed out that it wasn’t that easy.
George remained sure in his sentiment, implying that things may be easier if Liam was honest with Maria and Gary (Samia Longchambon and Mikey North) about what had been going on.

However, it later became clear that Liam wasn’t going to take George’s advice, when Gary revealed that George had spoken to him.
He asked Liam if things were okay between him and Mason, and Liam lied and said that they were, though it was clear Gary wasn’t convinced.
