Nothing stays hidden for long, as Stephen is about to find out (Picture: ITV)
Coronation Street has taken a rather dark turn recently, with some of the grittiest storylines the soap has seen in quite some time.
From Amy’s (Elle Mulvaney) hospital visit from rapist Aaron (James Craven) to Paul’s (Peter Ash) diagnosis with motor neurone disease, the drama has not stopped coming of late.
In tonight’s episode, after showing off his new car and showing Owen (Ian Puleston-Davies) and Angelique (Victoria Ekanoy) samples of their first order with Michael (Ryan Russell) and Sarah (Tina O’Brien), Stephen (Todd Boyce) is shocked to open a hand-delivered letter daubed with ‘I know what you did to Rufus.’
As you might imagine, this rather puts a downer on things and Stephen struggles to get into a celebratory mood while the group toast to the prospect of a second order.
Heading back over to the factory, Stephen encounters the two lads he attempted to buy LSD from, who reveal they are the ones who sent the shocking letter. Demanding £10,000 to keep quiet, what will Stephen do?

Elsewhere, Tim (Joe Duttine) is horrified to learn that Elaine (Paula Wilcox) plans to marry Stephen, with the pair looking to move into their new apartment imminently. In a fit of anger, Tim tells Stephen that he’d rather die than let him marry his mother.
At the café, Summer (Harriet Bibby) is helping Amy with her economics coursework. However, distracted by the arrival of Aaron, Amy knocks over her coffee and soaks her laptop, admitting to both Tracy (Kate Ford) and Summer that her University have already issued her with a warning for being so far behind with her work.

However, both Amy and Tracy are shocked to discover a brand-new laptop on the doorstep.
Also on the soap, Sarah suggests a date lunch – without the lunch – leaving Adam (Sam Robertson) delighted. But Damon discovers Dee-Dee has taken over his licence application, he correctly guesses that Sarah is reluctant to have him spend any time with Adam.
Finally, back in the café, Paul shows Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) confirmation of his court date, while Eileen (Sue Cleaver) heads back home to find George (Tony Maudsley) with his fingers glued together – naturally struggling to complete his model boat.
Coronation Street continues tonight at 8pm on ITV1.
