Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) is reminded of her history with Ray Crosby (Mark Frost) in Coronation Street soon as she realises a decision made by Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) could make him a very hated member of the community.
While working with Debbie, Ray secretly began purchasing properties in Weatherfield in a bid to build a new hotel development.
During this storyline, Ray bribed people on the council and development teams, as well as blackmailing and lying to residents so they could sell their properties to him.
Ultimately, the plot was about the community coming together to prevent a project going ahead that would destroy the history of the street – something Ronnie will need to be reminded of in upcoming episodes as the future of the local pub is revealed.

When Ronnie reveals he’s had a call from a property developer mate and he’d like them to oversee the conversion of the Rovers into flats, Ed’s (Trevor Michael Georges) is delighted while Debbie warns him that he’ll have the whole street against him.

Later in the week, Paul (Peter Ash) thanks Ed for his work in the flat and promises to pay him as soon as his disability grant comes in.
Ed – who is broke and battling his gambling addiction again – masks his panic as he assures him there’s no rush.
