Kevin and Abi Webster (Michael Le Vell and Sally Carman) took a chance on Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) when they hired her at the garage in Coronation Street, but could Abi come to regret that decision?
Cassie has been doing some serious meddling in recent episodes, having stolen a client’s Porsche and taking it out to buy Christmas presents, only to bring it back with a whopping great scratch down the side.
In order to cover her tracks, she planted tools to make it look like Abi had accidentally caused the damage, leaving Kevin annoyed.
Things only got worse in tonight’s (January 2) episode when the owner turned up to collect his vehicle, after Cassie called him in early.
He was furious when he spotted the marks on the side of his beloved car, though Abi assured him that they would fix it free of charge.

As Abi wondered how his number could have possibly been in the pile of clients Cassie needed to call, scheming Cassie told her not to blame herself, though Kevin made it clear that he thought there was no one else to blame.
Having found someone to repair the damage on short notice, Abi drove the car off to be fixed, leaving Cassie and Kevin alone at the garage.
As Kevin continued to work on another car, Cassie appeared to be doing her best to win him round, showering him with compliments, after having laughed at his terrible jokes all day.

Could Cassie be deliberately trying to drive a wedge between Kevin and Abi?
‘Cassie just wants Abi’s life. Does she fancy Kevin? I don’t know. I think she just wants that structure of stability,’ actress Claire Sweeney revealed.
‘She’s seen how Abi has sorted itself out. I think it was awful when she blamed Abi for the scratch on the car, but then coming from it logically Abi was never going to get sacked whereas Cassie would. She just wants to keep the job. She loves working there. She just stepped over the line.

‘It’s interesting because Cassie wanting Abi’s life is not so far-fetched. It’s not like she’s looking at someone who, you know, has got a completely different life like Real Housewives or even looking at someone like Maria who’s never put a foot wrong. Abi is someone who basically has had her life.
‘You see so many similarities between Abi and Cassie. You can see why she believes she could have what Abi has got and even start to believe she has feelings for Kevin.’

While Claire isn’t sure what the future holds for the employees of Webster’s Autos, she would like to see Cassie get into a relationship with someone.
‘It’d be nice for her to get into a relationship and find love and find stability and put a bit of lipstick on it. That’d be lovely. To get a snog and a bit of lippie that would be my new year’s wish for Cassie.’
