Carla must fight to save Underworld (Picture: ITV)
The future of Underworld is in jeopardy after Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) actions left it in financial ruin in Coronation Street, but Carla Barlow (Alison King) is determined to do all she can to keep it afloat.
As part of his getaway plan, Stephen successfully persuaded Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell) to give him the access key to Underworld’s accounts, by faking a phone call with Carla.
Once inside the accounts, Stephen transferred the full amount of £250,000 into a fake account belonging to him, before attempting to make a run for it.
Unfortunately for Stephen, Carla received a notification as soon as the money had been moved, and instantly knew what he was up to, but realised there was nothing she could do to stop him.
But if we know anything about Carla, it’s that she won’t let something like this destroy her, and she will do anything she can to allow Underworld to fight another day.

Actress Alison King recently revealed that, though Carla will be damaged by this event, she will come out stronger in the end.
‘With Carla, you always get the street against her. It’s normally about money and people’s livelihoods, and I imagine that will be affected again from this until she gets something sorted again with the factory.’
In upcoming scenes, Carla assures her employees that she intends to fight tooth and nail to get things back on track, as the police continue to investigate.

In a bid to get things up and running, she reveals her plan to fly to Spain in order to secure a lucrative deal, which could save the factory and their jobs.
Despite Carla’s assurances, the Underworld employees continue to worry about their wages, with many of them having families to support.
Unfortunately for Michael, it isn’t just his wages he has to worry about, as he learns that he has lost his job.

‘I think he’s finally felt like he was progressing in life and gaining some success with his designs,’ actor Ryan Russell explained. ‘He got promoted, everyone kind of respects him in Underworld.
‘So, to lose that, I think he’d be scared to go back to square one again. Then he’s got the added pressure of being a single dad with Glory, so financially it’s going to be very hard for him.’
Will Carla be able to save the factory, or will everyone be following Michael out of the door?
