Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) continues to try and help others in the aftermath of her rape in Coronation Street.
Earlier this year, Amy was attacked by Aaron Sandford (James Craven). The teens were spending the evening drinking when Amy passed out and went to bed. In the morning, she realised she wasn’t able to consent to having sex with Aaron and was therefore raped.
In the aftermath, Aaron refused to believe he was responsible for the crime and maintained that Amy wanted to have sex just as much as him.
As Amy went through hell, Aaron eventually realised what he had done when he reflected on the evening in question. The character then departed Weatherfield with his dad, meaning that was the only form of closure Amy got.

Coming up, Summer (Harriet Bibby) decides to help Amy at the drop-in she’s organised for the counselling charity.
After a girl enters, Summer hands her a flyer.
While Summer and Amy are distracted, the girl ends up leaving and once Amy realises, she’s cross with herself, wishing she’d offer her some help.

With Summer worried for her friend, what’s next for Amy as she struggles to move forward after a horrific few months?
‘We’ve seen on screen she’s starting to have a little bit of joy and stuff, getting to become better friends with Aadi in the whole Aadi and Courtney storyline,’ Elle Mulvaney told us.

‘We’re starting to see Amy laugh again and go out again, so it’s nice in those aspects. But there’s no straight road of starts getting happy, gets really happy, gets really happy, you know? It’s going to be up and down.

‘People are never 100% okay, and also, even if you are great for one period of time, something might happen which might remind you and might bring you back down, to then build yourself up again.
‘So I think we’re really going to see a journey, more than just that she’s better again.’
