The look of lust… (Picture: ITV)
Coronation Street has confirmed yet another love triangle storyline, with a central cobbles couple heading for the rocks when a wife cheats on her husband in a steamy affair.
With mother and daughter Sarah and Bethany Platt (Tina O’Brien and Lucy Fallon) both embroiled in their own complex love webs, you’d think Corrie would have enough to juggle, but Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) will soon embark on an affair to assess how handy a man former footballer Tommy Orpington really is.
Matt Milburn has reprised the role of Steve McDonald’s (Simon Gregson) sporting icon.
With his former relationship and career over, Tommy is turning his hand to a bit of DIY on the cobbles, which is great news for Tracy, who is in need of some interior work.
Behave.
Naive Steve couldn’t be more excited to have a legend of the game in his midst, little knowing that his marriage is going to be left hanging by a thread when mischief magnet wife Tracy can’t resist the allure of a passionate fling.

Actor Matt enthused: ‘I think he likes her sparky nature, her quick retorts and her banter is very sharp. He likes being kept on his toes.
‘She’s not an easy target in many ways. I just think that they seem to have this chemistry between them that none of them see coming.’
Having appeared in numerous short stints over the years, Matt couldn’t be happier to be back in the role, with a longer-term arc now laid out.
‘I was absolutely thrilled and over the moon, because it’s something I’ve wanted for years,’ he smiled.
‘I’ve played Tommy intermittently since 2016 so to be told that I was going to be coming back and given something far more substantial, I was delighted.
‘Tommy is the perfect character for me to play because I love football and he’s a famous northern footballer. It’s great to be back!’
Not so great for our Steve, though, who is going to have his heart snapped in two when he finds out.
As for whether this will spell the end of his relationship with Tracy remains to be seen, but fans have been more than aware that Tracy isn’t known for being the settling down type.
Steve himself hasn’t exactly been innocent in the past but, despite this, his rose-tinted specs he wears for Tommy O are preventing him seeing the signs he has so often exhibited in the past himself.
The cobbles are a hotbed of desire right now, with Bethany embarking on a relationship with her ex Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), despite Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) still being in love with him.

However THAT was messed up with – yep, you guessed it – cheating, as she had slept with Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott).
Elsewhere, having had her marriage fall apart due to infidelity, Sarah is now testing the waters with criminal flame Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths), but former husband Adam (Sam Robertson) wants to break this up any way he can.
Falling for someone is a risky business in Weatherfield.
