This is the unsettling moment which sees sex offender Aaron (James Craven) show no shame in Coronation Street, as he insists that Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) amends the false statement that exonerates him.
Amy has been fighting for justice ever since Aaron had sex with her when she was too drunk to consent.
When the police told her that they couldn’t press charges against Aaron, she took matters into her own hands, and published an online account of what he did.
Aaron still denies what he did, and insists that their sex was consensual, blind to the crime of rape that he committed.
Furious at his son’s name being publicly dragged, his dad Eric is pursuing legal action against Amy for seemingly defaming Aaron.
Despite knowing that she is in the right, Amy fears that being sued will leave her parents penniless and also her friends evicted from their flat.
She has reluctantly agreed to write a statement claiming that what she accused Aaron of isn’t true.

In the newly released clip for an upcoming episode, Amy meets up with Aaron in the bistro, and he has the gall to be unhappy with how it’s written.
He moans that it still makes him look bad, when he wants it to completely clear his name.
When Amy hits back, he begs her to keep her voice down, to which she challenges him over whether he wants everyone to hear he raped her.
He presses the matter, with Amy angrily telling him to just write whatever he wants himself, she just wants this to be over.
It remains to be seen whether Aaron will get away with it using Amy’s statement, or whether it will finally dawn on him that what he did was appalling.
However, his story in the show is coming to a close soon, with Metro.co.uk recently confirming that James has filmed his final scenes after a year in the show.
