Carla Connor (Alison King) is back from her recent trip to Spain in upcoming Coronation Street episodes – and so much has changed.
Carla left the cobbles a few weeks ago for a business meeting abroad. Following the death of Stephen (Todd Boyce), Carla has been busy trying to save Underworld. She believed that attending the meeting in person would increase the factory’s chances of keeping a deal – but it also meant leaving a struggling Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) behind.
Before Carla’s exit, Peter told her there’s every chance he could be in prison by the time she gets back. Since then, DS Swain (Vicky Myers) dropped the case and confirmed Peter wouldn’t be sent behind bars for Stephen’s death, as there was enough evidence to prove he drove his car into the evil businessman to protect Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) and others.
While Peter was relieved at the development, it has left him in a risky position. Battling with his inner demons, Peter is now terrified about relapsing and turning to drink – and that is on the forefront of Carla’s mind in this new video.

At the flat, Carla attempts to express her and Ken’s (William Roache) worries to Peter about him drinking.
Peter, who has returned with a coffee in hand, is hurt by the accusation and tells his partner he’s been to another AA meeting.
The taxi driver then breaks the news to Carla that he’s actually been attending a lot more meetings than she thinks.
Carla is somewhat pleased, but she then turns her attention to the missing bottle of whisky from the flat, and asks Peter where it’s gone.

But if Peter isn’t drinking, who stole the booze?
‘There are a few explosive Peter Barlow-style outbursts that start to bring to Carla’s attention that he’s really not okay,’ Corrie boss Iain MacLeod told Metro.co.uk recently, discussing the scenes that will lead to Peter’s exit.

‘They reach this enormous fork in the road where they love each other, but perhaps their happiness is no longer reliant on each other, which is to say maybe they start to wonder if they’d be happier in some other situation somewhere else basically.
‘It all builds up to this incredibly surprising Christmas episode, then there’s a huge two-hander between the two of them, more or less they are the only two cast in the episode.

‘It’s a greatest hits compilation – for those of you that have been big fans of Peter and Carla since the start – that picks over every single detail of who are they are, what they’ve been as a couple and what they want for their future and what happiness looks like for them – and it’s building towards an exit for Peter which is really brilliant and bittersweet and feels like Corrie at it’s very best.’
