Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) is heading down a dark path in Coronation Street.
Ever since Peter’s (Chris Gascoyne) exit, Simon has felt a little bit lost. He works at the factory but as a result of not focusing on something he’s passionate about, Simon often distracts himself by getting drunk and hanging out with his mates at the pub night after night.
This week, Simon has had trouble with Max (Paddy Bever) and newcomer Bobby (Jack Carroll).
Bobby likes to have a joke here and there but the more we get to know him, it seems he’s becoming a bit of a bad influence on Simon.
In Wednesday’s (January 23) episode of the ITV soap, Bobby and Simon were in the pub again enjoying some drinks.
Simon admitted to Bobby that he skived off work yesterday to go out with his friends, and is now terribly hungover.

As they arrived at work, Carla (Alison King) started to sense that Simon had been lying to her.
Carla warned Simon about making a fool of her, but his troublesome behaviour continued outside when he refused to sort an Underworld delivery.
With no choice, Carla sacked Simon and told him to go home.
Back at Leanne’s (Jane Danson) flat, Bobby visited Simon and wondered if he was heading out into town again.
Simon decided to stay in and told Bobby he’ll get an early night.

However, when night fell, Simon placed a box of beers on the coffee table and tried to call his dad.
The call went straight through to voicemail, leaving Simon to feel lonely and somewhat jealous of Peter, who left Weatherfield for a job that involves sailing around the world.

The actor is set to depart after 15 years in the show, having made the decision to bow out.
He is said to be set for a particularly dramatic final storyline, and recent pictures depicted Simon in a car crash, with Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) as a passenger.
