Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) gets some good news as 2024 begins in Coronation Street.

Recently in the ITV soap, Evelyn faced a stressful time when she confronted a man called Terry, who was mistreating his dog.

Evelyn then decided to try and protect the pooch by stealing her from Terry’s van. She kept Taylor Swift (the dog) in Weatherfield for a little while, but ultimately realised she’d be better off at a rescue centre.

While Evelyn was determined to look after Taylor, her and Tyrone (Alan Halsall) were put in danger as a result of Terry’s anger.

After the evil man threatened the family, Tyrone made plans to collect Taylor from the rescue centre and return her.

However, he got halfway and then returned home, announcing to Evelyn and Cassie that he had left Taylor at the centre and reported Terry to the police instead.

Thinking the matter is finally over, Evelyn happily spends Christmas Day with Roy (David Neilson) and Mary (Patti Clare) soon and enjoys getting tipsy in the cafe with her friends.

She then opens the present Roy got her and is genuinley touched to see the gift.

In the new year, focus turns to Terry’s hearing.

Tyrone senses Evelyn’s fear as she refuses to accompany him to court, claiming that she has more important things to do.

Later on, Evelyn hears from Ty that Terry pleaded guilty and will be sentenced soon, but what will the outcome be?
