Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) is up to her bad old ways in upcoming Coronation Street episodes when she steals a car.
But a cunning plan to avoid the blame ends up giving Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Abi (Sally Carman)’s relationship some serious trouble.
Cassie takes the car when Roy Cropper (David Neilson) needs to go on a shopping trip to get a special present for Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) for Christmas. Cassie says she’ll go with him, but when Roy’s faithful vehicle the Woody refuses to start, Cassie has an idea.
Some days later Roy spots a Porsche in the garage and realises it’s the one Cassie took for their shopping trip. He concludes that Cassie must have taken it without the owner’s consent and, being Roy, is naturally horrified that he was an accessory to a crime.

Even worse, Kevin and Abi soon discover that the posh car has a huge scratch on the side. They can’t explain how it happened but Cassie is ready with a theory. She suggests that maybe Abi has started drinking again and scratched the Porsche while she was drunk.
Obviously this is a huge allegation given Abi’s struggles with alcohol and drug abuse in the past and Abi is mortified that Kevin could even consider that Cassie is speaking the truth.

Cassie piles the pressure on the couple by calling the Porsche’s owner to collect his car, later pretending she did so by mistake.
He arrives and is furious to see the huge scratch on his beloved car and threatens to sue the garage. Kevin and Abi can only look on in horror as Cassie persuades him that the car will be restored to its former glory by the next day.

Little realising that Abi is entirely innocent in all this, Kevin is so stressed he can’t help but blame her.
Roy is not happy about Abi taking the blame for Cassie’s actions and urges her to come clean. She agrees and is about to confess to Kevin when he makes her a surprising job offer, because of her apparently good work in calming down the Porsche owner.

But when the owner comes to collect his car he refuses to pay his bill, leaving Kevin seriously out of pocket.
Once again he takes his anger out on Abi. Will Cassie admit to what she did, or could her reckless actions drive a permanent wedge between Kevin and Abi?
