The residents of Coronation Street will settle in for a Christmas Day surrounded by family this year, but this will cause friction for some much loved characters.
Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) has exactly the reaction you’d expect from someone who discovers that she is supposed to be cooking ten, and things only get more tense between her and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) when a joke about age gaps in relationships doesn’t land.
However, when she heads over to the flower shop in search of a bottle of wine, her day is brightened as she finds herself serving former professional footballer Tommy Orpington, who has seized the opportunity to buy his mum a last minute gift.
Elsewhere, Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) gives wife Carla Barlow (Alison King) a really thoughtful gift in the form of a bracelet engaged with ‘P loves C’. However, when she reveals what she has bought him, he is left gobsmacked.

Paul Foreman and Billy Mayhew (Peter Ash and Daniel Brocklebank) are looking forward to a peaceful Christmas Day together with a film and a bottle of bubbly. Unfortunately, their day takes a turn when Todd Grimshaw and Chesney Brown (Gareth Pierce and Sam Aston) break down the door and end up seeing more than they bargained for.

It is Gemma Winter’s (Dolly-Rose Campbell) fears that Paul may have had a fall that prompt the break-in, but later, once her mind has been settled, she receives a video call from Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) in prison. Together, the family sing Christmas carols.
Unfortunately, not everyone is having such a happy Christmas, as Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges) feels guilty as he watches his family open the few meagre presents they have.

When they gift him with an inscribed watch declaring him the best dad ever, he ends up feeling even worse, though he doesn’t have long to dwell before Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) calls round to invite the family to Speed Daal for Christmas dinner.
Elsewhere, Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman), Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) and Roy Cropper (David Neilson) tipsily prepare Christmas dinner, while the Platts and Websters settle down in the Bistro for a festive lunch.
